Domaine des Etangs, Luxurious properties to rent, Charente, Poitou Charente
Since each smallholding is both an interpretation of its own history and a site of architectural experimentation, each is different from the others.
Le Pêcheur was the smallholding with the most immediate potential, and its location between two lakes inspired decorative elements such as the fish-shaped hinges on the furniture. The boots found on location at Le Sabotier gave this smallholding its name, while its bathroom boasts highly original chestnut bark wood panelling.
Le Meunier smallholding is an immense edifice that looks like something from the Middle Ages, with its mullioned windows, enormous chimney and astonishing wine cellar. Le Boulanger’s bread oven only adds to the rustic feel of its warm interior, which also boasts a bedroom under the eaves.
La Grange and le Vigneron both feature lots of space and wonderful antique finds and are the fruit of unbridled imagination. These two smallholdings are perfect for communal life.
The main building houses the dining rooms and living rooms, with their antique fireplaces. The five bedrooms on the first floor give an impression of warmth, intimacy and simply luxurious authenticity.
